Labels on cosmetics are a very important part of how people decide what to buy because they are the main way to find and explain basic information, product features, and safety warnings.
Cosmetics sold in China must have Chinese labels, in accordance with the pertinent clauses of the “Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Cosmetics” and the “Administrative Measures for Cosmetics Labeling”.
Standard Chinese characters must be used on the Chinese labels of cosmetics, and if extra words or symbols are used, they must be explained using standard Chinese characters on the same side of the product that can be seen.
The meaning of any characters, pinyin, numerals, symbols, etc. used in the registered trademark in the Chinese name of the product shall be stated on the same visual face.
Other text fonts on the same visible surface of the Chinese label must be smaller than or equal to the font size of the corresponding standard Chinese font, with the exception of registered trademarks.
Chinese labels must adhere to the aforementioned specifications if they are attached to the original packaging that was written in a language other than Chinese.
