On December 1st, 2021, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) officially announced the exclusive logo of children’s cosmetics-“Little Golden Shield/小金盾”, as well as the recommended color information, proportional area, and Labeling requirements. In particular, the NMPA pointed out that the use of the shield shape is intended to convey protection and love for children.
According to regulations, children’s cosmetics that apply for registration or filing from May 1 next year must use the children’s cosmetics logo on the product’s labels, and the previous children’s cosmetics must complete the product label update before May 1, 2023.
NMPA stated that the name of the exclusive mark for children’s cosmetics is “Little Golden Shield”, which is intended to express the joint efforts of all parties in society and authorities, to continuously improve the quality of children’s cosmetics Safe, provide a good growth environment for infants and children, guard and care for the healthy growth of children.
Design Meaning of the Logo
According to the official interpretation, the “Little Golden Shield” adopts gold and shield shape as a whole. The gold color reflects the healthy, lively, optimistic and positive attitude of children; the shield represents the right The protection and care of children, the resistance to illegal products, and at the same time increase the recognition of the logo; the center of the shield is the image design of children with open hands, emphasizing the firm determination to protect the healthy growth of children.
Labeling Requirement
The NMPA clearly requires that the children’s cosmetics logo should be marked on the upper left side of the display surface (hereinafter referred to as the main display page) that is easy to be observed in the sales package in accordance with the prescribed pattern and in equal proportions, so that it is clear and easy to identify. When the surface area of the main display page is greater than 100 square centimeters, the widest part of the children’s cosmetics logo shall not be less than 2 centimeters. When the surface area of the main display page is less than or equal to 100 square centimeters, the widest part of the children’s cosmetics logo shall not be less than 1 cm.
In addition, NMPA also announced the recommended color matching information for “Little Golden Shield” to facilitate printing by enterprises.
Conclusion
On October 8, the “Children’s Cosmetics Supervision and Administration Regulations” officially promulgated clearly stated that “Children’s cosmetics MUST be marked with the children’s cosmetics logo.” Until today, the “Little Golden Shield” was released and necessary to be applied for registration or filing from May 1 next year. It can be seen that it took only half a year for the NMPA to have the idea of ”designing special logos for children’s cosmetics”; to soliciting logo patterns, and then to officially issuing the logo.
